I am brand new to blogging but hope to discover some wonderful uses for my classroom. I am a 4th grade teacher and would love for my students to be able to blog to help them enhance their writing skills and to reach out to a larger audience. I've set up this blog as a requirement for a Master's course that I am taking. The idea is that if I begin to get comfortable with the technology on my own I will then begin to use it in my classroom. It is so important that we incorporate technology into our classroom as this is the world our students have grown up in and it will be the world will send them out to.
If anyone has any great ideas on how they use Blogs in their classroom I'd love to hear from you. Also if you know a teacher who is currently using a Blog in his/her classroom I would love to check it out. As I get ideas from my classmates I will post them so we can all learn from each other. I look forward to hearing your ideas.
I haven't used a blog in my classroom before, but there are several blogs out there that talk about incorporating them into classroom lessons. I think it would be great to have student bloggers that can keep a classroom blog up to date and a place for students to share problems and solutions for classroom topics.
ReplyDeleteI am a rookie at blogs. I haven't posted on any nor have I have tried to use it in the classroom. We have very limited technology and time to devote to blogging. I would have to make it an afterschool club in order to get any technology started. My students barely know Powerpoint and Word.
ReplyDeleteTeaching students to use new technology is always a challenge. I do know that I plan to be more purposeful about the direct instructions students receive before I turn them lose on new activities. In the past I have not been clear with my students about the purpose or goal of incorporating technology. I have always focused on the end product and not the learning process. This class is helping me realize that the process has a lot to offer in regards to thinking and how to use the right tool for the job.
